Real estate developmentReal estate development is the improvement and construction of land to create value. The term can be used to refer to real estate development projects and growth in the built environment or the real estate development industry. RedevelopmentRedevelopment is the replacement, rehabilitation, or repurposing of existing improvements on an already developed site. RedliningRedlining is the practice of denying financial services, such as loans and insurance, to residents of a given area that tends to be composed of minority populations. The discriminatory practice has been made illegal by fair housing laws in the United States such as the Holden act in California. Rentable area

The rentable area is the amount of space that is allocated to a tenant in order to calculate the total rent owed by the tenant to the landlord. The rentable area consists of the space occupied or leased by the tenant plus an allocated portion of the areas in the building that are shared with other tenants such as the lobby or corridors.

Rents are generally quoted in terms of the rentable area, but this must always be confirmed with the landlord. The rentable area is multiplied by the rental rate to determine the total rent.

Rent = Rental Rate x Rentable Area

If the rental rate is $2 per square foot per month, and the rentable area is 1,250 square feet, then the rent is $2,500 per month.

Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC)The Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) was an entity created by the United States Congress that was tasked to liquidate the assets of the failed savings and loan associations from the savings and loan crisis of the 1980's and 1990's. It is considered one of the greatest transfers of wealth in the real estate industry and seeded the most notable real estate investment funds of today.
